Happy Thanksgiving!
Or as we say "Happy Turkey Day!" For most of us today is a day of family, much food and drink and the typical food coma caused from eating large amounts of turkey. But actually that last statement is false. According to Webmd (see link below for full article), the amino acid in turkey is not the culprit to the induced food coma caused on Thanksgiving. It's really the overeating, which basicallly takes alot of energy in order to digest, hence making you tired.
While this same tradition is wide spread throughout the US, let's get into a Wisconsin Turkey Day. Not only are people consuming large amounts of food, so too are we consuming large amounts of beer and it is especially so for those who came home with that record winning deer they shot that morning before the feasting began.
Like this guy. Guaranteed there was much celebration over this catch. This morning as I traveled to my mother's house for Thanksgiving, I found myself behind this truck, which a big buck in the back. I don't really care for hunting, but venison is damn good. mmmm... This is not an uncommon scene in Wisconsin around Thanksgiving.
Wisconsin also offers another source for beer consumption and celebration: football. Yup. In my family football is always on in the living room of my grandparents house and everyone is watching it. This year was extra special for Wisconsin because our football team played today. Even better for football fans: They won.
For me personally, I'm not very close with most of my family. Holidays are always a bit on the stressful time. Gotta love them relatives. This year was the most relaxed Thanksgiving I've had in years. There was no rushing, everyone was in a pleasant mood. And there were some good laughs too be had. Thankgiving 2011: success.
